August – A Woman´s 4 Day Art Adventure

Day One

I’ve got to have some. We are talking peace and quiet that is. After days of chaos, endless relatives, a funeral service, and relatives grappling for the booty, I felt the need to withdraw from nearly everything. My understanding husband gave me my leave and Lola, my 1100 V Star gave me my carriage so I headed to the desert of Nevada where sans the city 24-hour nightlife, one can find complete solace in the sage and sand.

I left Folsom, CA with a fully packed bike, clothing and toiletries, books, camera, ipod, drawing book, graphite, a few tools and water. Oh ya, and a wallet full o’ credit cards. I could go just about anywhere but instead I went house sitting for my friend and his wife with an equal need to escape. They left their house and cat in my capable hands and as a exchange, I got to ride to my hearts content, visit old friends as this is where I grew up, and do some needed drawing and escapist video viewing, in the form of a BBC production called MI-5.

I headed up Hwy 50 E to Placerville, Kyburz, Strawberry, Meyers, Lake Tahoe and finally the unlikely capitol of Nevada, Carson City. I left early Friday afternoon in a plethora of traffic, winding the byway for a weekend of gambling and fraternizing on the gorgeous shores of Lake Tahoe. At least, I was hoping they would all stop there!
