Welcome to Demeneshea’s Ride Like a Girl!

I began motorcycle riding in 2004, a time when many people found it an odd or adventurous challenge for a woman no longer a glowing youth. My glow may be a bit tarnished, but my patina flowed into my second or third childhood! I found myself searching everything I could find to read and re-read regarding motorcycling, touring, safety, machines, destinations, and anything somewhat motorcycle related. I read, rode, practiced and learned.

Now many thousand miles later, I enjoy finding others like myself, wanting to ride, looking for places to go and information to get there. I hope to fill some of the gaps found in the female motorcycling community, you know the ones, leaving out the largest growing population of new riders, women!! Though this site is not female specific, it is definitely geared to women and new riders, but I would hope there is a bit o’ something for every motorcyclist, new and old.

From ride reports around the country, forum links, road links, to bit o’ this and that, I welcome your comments and suggestions! Take some time and look around and Welcome to demenshea.com/blog!

  1. Hi Donna! Love your site. I have a motorcycle blog called the many thoughts of harleygirl. One of my greatest loves with my site is interviewing bikers and getting their thoughts on riding and life. If you would be interested in doing an interview please let me know. I love getting the insite of other female riders, because they have felt many of the same feelings as me. And seriously…men just don’t get us too much when it comes to riding our own.

Welcome IowaHarleyGirl!! I am thrilled you are having a good time reading the site. One thing we all have in common is the love for riding, but it’s really a special love from female riders, as there really are no others quite like us!! Let me know about the interview by sending me an email. I’d love to do one, if able. In the meantime, please feel free to add comments to any of the posts you read!

Beautiful photos, rich in color and somehow familiar to the traveling motorcyclist. The view looking over the handlebars is a delicious treat!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping Syd’s spirit alive. I first met Syd at Fat Cats in Albion about 13 years ago. She rode up with my then brother-in-law, and it was love at first sight, followed by instant hugs. Sadly we only had contact a couple of times a year, with me always promising to make it up to Folsom for a visit. I called a few months ago, but didn’t hear back (not like Syd). I finally got around to calling her again tonight, only to find her number disconnected. Then the search and shock began.

I’m just so glad that so many got to share what I experienced with Syd, and only hope that she had a clue of her effect on others.

    Thank you,

Kurt, I’m so sorry that you had to discover the loss of our friend Syd by phone and research. I know many people were contacted via numbers she had, however many were not found. I believe we were all effected by Syd’s wonderful sense of humor and her keen connection to the world. I’m glad you found here and got to share for however long, just how wonderfully her spirit shined!!

Take care and glad you found the thread!!
