My new baby!!! Bandito2

I picked up Bandit2 late yesterday afternoon and put him to the test. I rode from Windsor over 128 to Spanish Flat, by accident and then onward through Winters making my way via backroads to Sacramento. A lovely inaugural ride, complete with some twistie road, a bit o’ freeway and nightfall. He preformed brilliantly!!

Girly Ride 2010–Another GREAT ride!

Girly Ride 2010 came to and end and my face muscles are still sore from all the laughter and smiling! We had a wonderful ride, covered some fabulous CA roads and I personally discovered that if I find the right group to ride with, I quite enjoy a group ride!

Group shot taken in Santa Paula with 4 ride members missing

Going for Montana Floss

Kluts, who mentioned that he was riding to Montana to see his friend Gurdon (Murph), lit a fire under me. I had to go. I just had to! Following on the shirt tales of my awesome ride in Spain, I figured nothing could compare to those glorious days spent riding southern Espana, that is until I mounted my trusty steed taking the scenic route to Montana. I deem the Bandito trustworthy as it got me home even after some testy moments of feeling some “aging” pains.

Jim or forever known on this thread as Kluts, left the route to me having not ever ridden that area of the country. I just had to show him the “real” roads of central OR, Rattlesnake Canyon, Lolo Pass, I mean how can you miss any of those!!

We tried to leave early, but fate had a different time in mind. When Kluts arrived, I was saying goodbye to my daughter in law and grandsons. Lots of hugs later, we were off!

Now are those handsome grandboys or what??

Viajar por España – Part 4

I fell in love with these benches that are all over Spain. I love the art nouveaux styling.

The roads around Alájar and within the park were amazing, beautiful roads. What a pleasure to ride here! Gary had routed me up to Northern Portugal, but when I realized that the bike was supposed to be back at the dealer the following day by 11am, I scratched the plan and went instead to Southern Portugal, but avoiding the coastline and the tourists except for an overnight in Tavira.

Viajar por España – Part 3

The next few days—Granada and the Albaicín

I entered Granada hot and tired after a full day of riding the Sierra Nevada Range. The temperatures were rising to a dull 39C / 102F and the traffic of the city made for some confusion and chaos as I tried to negotiate the way to the hotel. Gary had booked it for me, with chief criteria being wifi and a pool and he found one that was located near the Alhambra where I planned the next day of touring, especially since my moto-friend Orson recommended that I not miss it! It was after about 40 minutes of perusing one way cobblestone streets, filled with buses, scooters and small cars that I threw in the towel and decided to make a cell phone call home.
