Mike asked me if I was OK and said he would get me to Hwy 50 and Sunrise Blvd. He would be taking the Hazel exit -– one short of my own -– as long as I felt like I could make it home. Good heavens… I’d fallen, gotten back on my beaten motorbike and ridden the duration. I think I’ve proved my moxy!
A few minutes later I rode up our driveway, home at last. My husband Gary graciously had the garage door open and greeted me when he heard my motor pulling into the garage. He ushered me into the house, sent me straight to the hot tub and brought me a glass of much-needed red wine. After a quick examination of the bike he said none of it mattered as long as I was well.
I was, now.
Epilogue:
Nearly one year after this crash, I got a message on pashnit from a Tim. He had received this message:
“In June of 05 my husband and I took a trip to Yosemite by way of Reno. We did Harley’s Fly & Ride Program, which we’ve been doing for several years now and rented the bikes in Reno and rode up the passes to Lake Tahoe and on to Yosemite. Three days in to the trip, we were in Yosemite by Cascade Falls when a woman rides up on a bike that had obviously been wrecked and she, herself, was hurt, though still riding. That woman turned out to be the wife of one of your writers and although I don’t know her name or her husband’s name, I wanted to send this picture to you all to give to her if that’s possible. She was a real trooper that day! Thanks! Vickie ”
Thanks Vickie…She aptly captured my beaten bike and ego!

Hey girl, I thought I recognized that bike with the ugly tank and rider with the dirty leathers. What a day huh? But you sucked it up and look how far you have come. Tell that better half of yours that I would like to see him posting more………He has a real writing talent.
Nice TravelBlog Donna and many great stories to share wishing you and Gary the best……..Kenneth Kinder.
Thanks for the kind works Ken. That day was definitely an influential one, providing me with what I hope never to occur again!! ; ) I am truly glad it happened with my friend, Papa-Ken and his ever famous Old Farts! I am richer by your having been there to help me sort it all out!
Thanks for the well wishes, Ken! Good to see ya! Check back for more adventures here and you might just see a “guest post” or two by a certain motowriter. 😉
