September – Hurricane Relief Ride

Wow, I love to ride and what a great day and reason to ride! Knowing that I could get on my motorbike and take an inspiring journey to our beautiful CA coastline while raising money for those whose coastline was ravaged and whose homes and livelihood were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. I was proud to be part of such a GREAT ride and supportive success.

It was wonderful as usual to greet all the friendly Pashnit faces as well as those from SBR, Dangerous Curves and ST.N! Although I arrived late in the afternoon, it didn’t stop me from jumping right in and hammering out a good conversation, although, I did have a difficult time explaining just how I had lost my ride captain and husband Gary. Just for the records, I was sweeping the ride when Dave, one of the riders, had a blowout. Luckily it occurred right outside of Coulterville so we pulled to the side of the road in time for some ultra prepared Harley riders who had everything we needed and more. Gosh I wonder why? hehehe jes kidding Kenny and others! Anyway, they were the saviors of the day and had a jack and plug kit and Dave had some Co2 at least enough to head back toward home. By now I was at least 30 or more minutes behind the group. I called Matt in Oakhurst and he was already in Mariposa with the group!! I was doomed to ride alone the rest of the journey.

I guess riding alone on a more direct route had it merrits. I arrived at least an hour before the rest of the valley riders which gave me at least an hour to give myself kudos for such a timely ride!

Sadly, Gary had the camera with him and as I rode over a great little section of Hwy 41 between Shandon and Atascadero and then on to Morro Bay, I passed several photo opportunities. However, we did get some ride start shots and then some great Hwy 1 shots on our way home. Kudos to John and David and my lovely husband for making my ride home a “Group” ride! We arrived home Monday evening tired but totally fulfilled. Ah, what a great ride with wonderful company!!

Pix time!

My friend John otherwise know as m0t0-ryder took this group shot.

First my absolute favorite…a backdrop for a Maxfield Parrish painting.
