With our kid graduated from high school and out of town for a few days, we planned a spur of the moment romp from the Sac area to Carson City, NV, then up to Hwy 36 and on to the coast. We covered ~970 miles over four days and loved every minute back in the saddle!
Day 1
Departing via Latrobe Rd. we headed toward Fiddletown, getting in a twisty fix on this gateway road to Hwy 88 and the Carson Pass.
Caples Lake in mid-melt in early June
Brr… a little chilly for fishing in the late afternoon
The bikes are thrilled to be released from their extended limbo in the garage
Day 2
After an overnight stay with the usual friends in Carson City, we rode out Saturday via Lake Tahoe and up to Truckee before stopping for lunch in Sierraville. Hwy 89 carried us northward, splitting off of Hwy 49 near Sattley.
Yuba River, along 89
We trekked up to the Lassen forest, where we picked up Hwy 36. The eastern section of 36 pales in comparison to its western sister, beyond I-5. But riding through the northern Sierra forests is ever a delight.
