Day 4
Staying another night in Fortuna, we were poised to ride back east over Hwy 36 toward home on Monday. We were both looking forward to seeing the western section of the road by daylight. The last time I’d ridden this direction was on a late autumn afternoon under cloudy skies. This early June ride offered perfect riding weather and delightful clear skies.

An unexpected cameo appearance of sea grass, miles from the coast
We traced our way back through the one-lane section of Hwy 36, crossing the section much faster than on the last ride through. In what felt like no time we were near the end of the Six Rivers National Forest.

After a pleasant side road diversion we ascend into the Trinity National Forest on the way back to the Central Valley.
A parting pic of a welcome sight: Caltrans sends out a truck once a week to sweep off the gravel, rocks and debris from the mountain road between Wildwood and Forest Glen. Cool beans!

Since I acquired a Canon EOS Digital Rebel in the spring, Donna has inherited the ever-versatile Kodak cheapi-digi that snapped so many of the great memories from last moto season. Dually armed, we’re prepared to document the rides we look forward to doing in 2006.
