July – My Big Fat Moto Tour

I did stop in Chemult and should have gotten gas, but hindsight is always 20/20. Instead I filled my other tank and got a sandwich at Subway. It tasted amazing…i do believe I was hungry! While there I met a group of Harley riders (no surprise there since it is a ubiquitous machine!) They were really fun to chat with as they were returning from a trip to Yellowstone, Tetons and Glacier NP to Medford, OR. Now that is another long trip!!

They, like many couldn’t understand my riding alone, but did understand the sense of adventure. They couldn’t get over the Bandit and all my “gadgets”. The spot was a real conversation piece and the GPS, the ipod remote…hehehe. The women loved my jacket and I highly recommended their getting one…as neither had any sort of protective gear…sheesh. Anyway, it was a very positive interaction and they invited me to ride along with them to Crater Lake, but the guys all said they were sure i’d be bored keeping their pace. (though they were probably correct) I stayed behind and called Gary and had a nice lunch and stretch before heading on my way to CL.

The beautiful Crater Lake

A young man traveling took my pix and chatted for a bit. It is always fun to meet people on the road.

I was surprised how much snow was still up around the lake.

The wildflowers were gorgeous and in full bloom
