Day Three—July 3
I was up early and grabbed my camera. Outside the sun was amazing lighting up the landscape with warm golden paintbrush. Everything had the gold Midas touch and looked surreal. The air was chilly, but the color was warm. The river, high from recent snow melts, misted in the dawn and steam rose in an eerie fog. It was truly lovely!

I loaded up the bike and glanced at my GPS. Today I was headed to Flathead lake, to visit my and Kluts friend, Gurdon. As excited as I was to get moving, I know I would miss this gorgeous, magical valley.
As I proceeded north the terrain took some amazing turns, from lush valley to more desert vantages.
