A Motorcycle Ride Back in Time

Gary and the boys

Jim, Gary and the boys

Once the boys were cooled off it was back to tear down camp and pack up. The thing that stood out most to me was the dedication to keep everything traditional, original and vintage. It is amazing the things we take for granted like a cup to drink coffee from. Suddenly it is imbued with new life in a tin cup or a fork that is wooden handled with pounded metal tangs. Impressive. We also saw a woman spinning yarn and some amazing weapons.

After gawking we realized we still had a 2+ hour trip home given our back roads route. We mounted bikes and headed homeward. We took some of the same roads in return, but did manage a couple of goaty trails as well, including Gwin Mine/Middle Bar Rd that meanders only a few miles. After winding down some nasty single track pavement you suddenly open up to the river and all its glory. It was fantastic!
