Interesting site: Lipstick and Wanderlust

In my web wanderings, I find many interesting items, some motorcycle related others not. Considering this is a motorcycle blog, I try my best to keep everything posted motorcycle-centric.

Well, while surfing, I discovered this site Lipstick and Wanderlust by Beth Whitman, offering encouragement, travel-tested information and lighthearted anecdotes drawn from her twenty years (and hundreds of thousands of miles) of experience as both an adventure and business traveler. I found this site ever so entertaining and highly informative.

Her site is a virtual plethora of goodies all for women traveling by whatever means. She has several topics of interest including a world tour company where she offers several different world wide tours. The site will keep one quite busy reading all that is offered and much of her information is fitted to the solo traveler.

I found this post on 5 Reasons to Travel Solo quite interesting, as I too have experienced several of these reasons and thought I would share Beth’s 5, but use the link to get her elaboration as to why she chose these 5.

1) You can enjoy the freedom to do as you please.
2) You’ll be more approachable.
3) You’re more likely to listen to your gut.
4) You can find your inner strength.
5) You’re more likely to have peak experiences.

We definitely share some common concerns, and I believe that which is most important to me is Beth’s number 4 which is pack light. I have always said, lay out what you’d like to take then cut it in 1/2. You will end up with what you need!! Our only diversion in opinion is that I would never consider getting somewhere more expediently by using a major roadway. I much prefer taking the road less traveled regardless what the price of time may cost.

Another great post is this one 5 Tips for Solo Dining to which i admit my weakness. I am less interested in eating solo than any other solo activity. I find the lack of company difficult and this is the one area where I can be left feeling lonely. Be sure to read this post if you are like me, not much on solo dining!

I hope you enjoy Beth’s site and please, as always, if you have anything to add, do so via comments!!
Safe riding!!!
