In reading about Harley Davidson’s economic downturn as reported by the Huffington Post, I discovered a little piece of Harley history, that I knew nothing about, Boardtrack Racing!
The first competitive venue for Harley was in boardtrack racing where the tracks were made out of wooden boards, and the first one in the country was in Playa del Rey, CA. I can’t even imagine the carnage of falling on a boardtrack!
Boardtrack racing is one of the many subject you can read about on Wheels Through Time, a website offering video footage and motorcycle history information as well as a museum you can visit in Maggie Valley, NC. YouTube had this video of Dale and a 1921 Harley that he found.
