I fell in love with these benches that are all over Spain. I love the art nouveau styling.
The roads around Alájar and within the park were amazing, beautiful roads. What a pleasure to ride here! Gary had routed me up to Northern Portugal, but when I realized that the bike was supposed to be back at the dealer the following day by 11am, I scratched the plan and went instead to Southern Portugal, but avoiding the coastline and the tourists except for an overnight in Tavira.
Another complete but empty subdivision in Spain.
I loved all the flora!
The story of my experience in Zufre is a humorous one. I went off the road to check it out and as I snaked my way up the steep cobblestone, I discovered a worker blocking the road. I threw up my hands in a “huh” gesture and he pointed up a tinier side road. When I looked puzzled, a cop that was there jumped on his scooter and gestured at me to follow. Man, was this dood fast on his little scooter. The big ol’ GS lumbered up the streets and I’d freak when a car came from the other direction. Finally at the top of the village, I pulled off to take a photo and the cop zipped off. I suddenly realized that I didn’t know how to get out and found myself in a couple of dead ends having to do a 5 point u-turn. OMG!
