Goin’ South–A female tale from the desert of the Southwest USA Pt.5

I did have some time to ponder the situation with my dad and remember the good times moving the current horror to the back burner. My dad was a kind dad, fun, who taught us skiing, which was how he met our mom. He also taught us to ride horses, took us ghost town exploring and camping. We celebrated what my parents deemed, the Old Timer’s Picnic on our property at Lake Tahoe. Luckily the good outweighs the bad and I finally can realize that the dad that raised me, no longer exists. Now he is simply an old confused man who needs my help as he moves toward the end of his life.

I decided to add a couple of photos for you to see…Dad in better days.
He and the dog he loved most, Gypsy.

Our place at Lake Tahoe, just below Angora Lookout.

My Bro and sis and I with our cousins Mary and Rich riding around Lake Tahoe.

Dad as I want to always remember him, in the kitchen of the house he built by himself of all recycled stuff!

TorC is a strange little place with the downtown filled with art galleries, hot springs, health food restaurants and an grand Italian place called the Bellaluca. I had a delicious meal there of Eggplant Parmesan. Walking around downtown was a visual treat as most of the businesses were delightfully colored and even though the “thunderstorms” never developed in TorC, I made the right choice to hang there and spend a full day being kind to myself. I left rested and ready for my next adventure.

Dorothy was the Blackstone gardener and she did an amazing job landscaping the desert!

She made the trellis so that she could feed the birds. There were wild birds abounding!

TorC colors

As you can see the sky still looks forbidding, so I spend the picking up some art supplies, drawing, painting with pastels, and relaxing in general. What a perfect time!

Art abounds in TorC

I believe this is prickly pear cactus.

Did I mention just how much I enjoyed Truth or Consequences, NM?? ; )
