It came and went but was one of the best, most fun, group rides ever and here’s the text and pix to prove it. This year’s ride was dedicated to one of last year’s ride leaders who, only weeks before this year’s ride, was badly injured in a motorcycle accident. When we discovered that “purple” was the healing color, we assembled the appropriate purple accouterments and accessories for this year’s ride, “Tyler’s Purple Ride”, everyone donning purple, or purplizing the bikes. We were a very festive appearing group and began our weekend in party mode!
We started in Visalia, CA with a Thursday evening send off at the Jamileh’s hacienda, enjoying a marvelous spread of Mexican food for dinner, a pool to beat the heat and enough adult libation to last through another prohibition. Though we certainly had motivation to go late into the evening, we all wanted an early start! Being good girls we headed off to bed and met bright and early at Starbucks at 7:30am for a pre-ride meeting. Then we were off to the twisty goat!! (For those that don’t speak motorcycle, “goat” is a road whose surface is less than stellar, often filled with potholes and bad pavement, but always curvy and always through beautiful back country).
Party Pix!!
Group shot with a few hiding in the back and pool but Tyler clearly standing among us in the center with a bit of support from Holly!
Sarah brought her mom as an added treat this year. A new rider of less than a year, Liz brought natural skills to the sport. She was quite the welcomed addition!
We all wore the healing purple in one way or another!
