BRAMMO has recently partnered up with the help Best Buy Venture Capital to release a fully electric motorcycle, the Enertia. This machine is slick in design and definitely leaves less of a carbon footprint, however it does seem a bit more moped than motorcycle according to some critics.
The BRAMMO machine’s designer Craig Bramscher is headquartered in Ashland, Oregon situated between the Cascade and Siskiyou Mountains in the southern part of the state, 12 miles north of the California border.
BRAMMO website states that “The company name “BRAMMO” dates back to Craig Bramscher’s high school football days – it was the nickname given to Craig by his football coach. Craig’s life long passion for beautiful vehicles now blends with his commitment to sustainability as he inspires BRAMMO’s product offerings to be equal parts exhilaration and eco-consciousness.”
Biker Awareness writer, Eric Everson described the BRAMMO, “I know what you regular BikerAwareness.com readers are thinking, “How can this diehard V-Twin guy get excited about a little electric bike that costs upwards of $13K?” The truth of the matter is that while I think the current model is a bit pricy and perhaps a bit fundamentalist in design, I see great upside for this company to collaborate within the motorcycle industry. I’m looking down range here, but imagine a hybrid Harley-Davidson (or insert your favorite motorcycle brand here) that turns your 200+/- mile trip per tank journey into a 400+/- trip and I think you’ll start to see where I’m coming from.”
BRAMMO, an iconic design could be a wave into a niche yet tapped by the motorcycle industry. And as ailing as sales are currently, I believe it will be a welcomed one. “What we’re selling is a lot closer to consumer electronics than to transportation,”Brammo CEO Craig Bramscher said. I believe it, since you will be able to purchase BRAMMO at Best Buy, but hey, it’s the future or so they are leading us to believe.
