Many of you know that I am about to embark on a trip to Southern Spain, but for those that don’t, I’m here to share my excitement!!
I have rented a motorcycle from BMW Moto Rental found in several of Spain’s larger cities. The bike is a BMW F650GS and the parallel twin should suit me well for the mountain terrain as well as any other encounters. I did look at the F800ST as well, but this GS was a bit less money, and I felt it would do just fine.
It comes as you see it above, with side bags and a top bag, so my only concern will really be chain maintenance. I do hope to pack on some miles and see as much of Andalusia as possible and venture over into Portugal if time allows. My traveling partner is an old friend, Ken Sullivan and this will be both of our first trip to Spain as well as our first experience riding in Europe!
The villa where we will be housed sits outside the small town of Lora Del Rio which itself is about 60km from Seville. We are sharing the abode with friends, but the size is ample enough to house several others. Anyone wanna join us? ; )
I love both these views of the house and it sits in the middle of an orange grove, which should be lovely! I did find out that the last 1.5km is a dirt track, which is probably all the dirt that these rented bikes will see.
I’ll be posting over the next couple of weeks, what I am taking, how I am packing and some other little tidbits, prior to my actual departure on May 28th. Then the journey really begins!!
