Girly Ride 2010 came to and end and my face muscles are still sore from all the laughter and smiling! We had a wonderful ride, covered some fabulous CA roads and I personally discovered that if I find the right group to ride with, I quite enjoy a group ride!

To meet at the start point of the ride, I and six others rode together to over some fun, some crowded but all very windy roads!

The real journey begins…
We began our official 2010 Girly Ride in Cambria, CA at the Cambria Palms Motel where 24 women met, riding a true plethora of exciting motorcycles. We had two Goldwings, 2 Ducatis, several BMWs, one big ol’ Harley cruiser, a couple of V-stroms, 1 Spyder, 2 Triumphs and several japanese bikes. Thursday night a modified party ensued and Friday morning was spend with coffee and mutual admiration of one another’s bikes. Then we set off riding over the goaty Santa Rosa Creek Road, which offered questionable pavement, but wonderful vistas!

We spent the entire day riding some of the BEST roads ever, making this my BEST DAY EVER of motorcycle riding! Two roads that in my perspective were nearly the best CA roads that I have ever had the pleasure of riding were discovered on this awesome day. One, known as Rossi’s Driveway or Hwy 229 and the other Hwy 33 into Ojai are simply indescrible. WOW… (omg, looks like my previous faves, Hwy 36 and Forks of Salmon have some serious competition).

From Hwy 58 we got on Hwy 33 and more fun. What a challenge but technically and personally. The road is tight, twisty, goaty and deserted bringing out the squidly qualities in all of our group! Woohoo…what a BLAST.
We arrived in Santa Paula Glen Tavern Inn, ready for drinks and dinner. It was then that I discovered that my room mate Dona (One-n) and I got the honeymoon suite, complete with jacuzzi tub and double headed shower. We laughed and then were subject to ridicule all evening!! Let me tell you these girls can dish it out and most certainly know how to party!

Dinner at the Inn…they seated us in the lobby of the hotel, which up to that point of the evening was filled with “well behaved” people. That soon changed!
Combing over the route so intensely, I nearly forgot my cleavage!
By morning, with most heads held high and not pounding and all spirits soaring for more fun roads, we met for a quick bite and coffee and then sorted out the maps, as we had to add a couple of changes. A couple of us weren’t moving so quickly, ; ) I had to laugh at the business across the street from the restaurant. Now this was one schizophrenic chick.

Saturday was an odd day. It never really gelled for me. We took Hwy 192 toward Santa Barbara thinking it would be more fun and less traffic than Hwy 101, however it was not really a highway at all. Presented to us was several neighborhoods with stop sign after stop sign. It was dull, busy and S L O W. The neighborhoods were lovely, but my interest in overpriced housing was waning, I was ready for some serious riding. We finally ended up on Hwy 101 and as much as I dislike freeways, it was good to get up to speed and see some miles. We were heading to Pozo Rd and Parkhill and some twisties and farm roads. Bring it on, I couldn’t wait!!
My Bandit and Regina’s Ducati. I was dreaming that maybe they would mate and we could have little DuZukis, SuCadas, or BanCatis or some such blend. ; )
We stopped in Pozo Tavern for a cold drink and mixed with the locals who I am certain have never quite seen the likes of such a crazy group of females. We laughed until our faces hurt and and then rode the hell out of Parkhill Rd. Wheeeeeeee.
Arriving in Paso Roble, presented a dichotomy. Though nice to arrive, we realized it was going to be our last night together. People drifted around eating at different restaurants, and then as the evening passed, we all ended up hanging around the hot tub with some people who found us highly entertaining. We seemed to make friends wherever we misbehaved. What a wonderful last evening.

Sunday morning we all parted ways. Some went together, doing a few more roads but I was needing to go to Nevada to check on my Dad, yet again. After half a day of riding east into the blazing heat of the desert, I missed my friends. I wanted to be back on the Girly Ride hanging, laughing and riding with some of the most amazing women ever!!! DAMN. At least I did see some pretty country.
