The ride to the actual Lees Ferry took me into the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, a sparsely visited park for more serious outdoor sports enthusiasts, which in of itself is ironic, since that certainly doesn’t describe me! The Colorado River is disguised in this area as a lamb, tame and braying softly. I found the “real” Lees Ferry and took a hike along the river bank. It was lovely sans hot and the farther I walked the more I realized I had to travel the same distance in return, so didn’t go any farther than a mile. The trail was an easy walk but shadeless and I was glad to have a camelbak. By the time I got back to my bike I was ready for some brisk riding and as much wind as my windscreen would allow!

Nice and sweaty…a great add for covergirl!
I thought this was an amazing sport. I have been told it’s called “paddleboarding” and I must admit, it looks fun. I can’t figure out how this guy is dry as getting on the paddleboard, must be difficult!

The rest of my ride to Show Low was pretty and cloud covered and even as high as the elevation rose into Show Low, the weather remained hot and humid. I watched a storm brew before my eyes and I could see the rain falling in the distance and an occasional strike of lightening. I was pleased it was miles away. When I arrived in Show Low, the roads were soaked and the foliage glistening with new fallen rain. I was glad to have missed the showers and made my destination, the MC B&B and friends.
