Kawasaki Europe has launched a new retro motorcycle, the 2011 W800 that was introduced at the 2010 Intermot Motorcycle Show in Cologne, Germany.

With the “old is new again” motorcycle trend, Kawasaki aims to satisfy with the release of the W800, the latest evolution of Kawasaki’s W series motorcycles. Kawasaki’s W series can be traced to the W1 model which made its debut in 1966.

The 2011 Kawasaki W800 uses the parallel 2-cylinder 800 cc engine with fuel injection that replaces the old carburetor system, to produce around 70 HP.

Reminiscent of the original Ducati Desmo, an iconic bevel-gear-driven cam adds beauty to the cylinder head while contributing to the engine’s classical appearance.

“I’m a big fan of Kawasaki — my favorite Japanese motorcycle manufacturer — for a number of reasons. They always seemed like the underdog to me, but the company seems to have a passion for the sport that contrasts with what I see as a more businesslike approach of the other brands of Japanese bikes, at least when it comes to filling the showroom.” Rick Korchak for webBikeWorld.com
