True PASSION

I just got done reading a great blog post on 4theriders and found that Kevin is indeed correct that the word passion is thrown around all too freely. Best described as a “burning desire” passion is something you experience from the gut, something raw and tugging. Passion can be found in different places for different people, and just like the fire from within, passion yearns for release.

We entertain passion like a greedy guest. Passion can be found eating all our time, our life. We open a vein and passion drains our blood. We do this willfully as we desire passion. Sadly, not everyone experiences the pure bliss and boundless energy of passion.

For me passion takes two roles. One when I create a new piece of artwork, and the second when I mount my motorcycle and take off on a destination-less tour. I read that a life without passion was like an empty room shuttered and dank. I think of that often as I watch something come from nothing in a painting, or see the road open up into an entirely new vantage of verdant green or dusty ocher. Passion makes us feel alive and less like an automaton living in a world filled with demands. Passion gives me hope and joy and many of us would gladly sell our souls for one day of real passion. I, fortunately, get a smattering of passion often. Often enough to keep me smiling.

So, here’s to finding your passion…chinchin!
