Well, it’s June 3rd and it’s still raining in central CA. This is not the usual season that’s for sure. There has been recent snowfall in the Sierra passes and all of the fun pass roads, Hwy 108 Senora Pass, Hwy 4 Ebbetts Pass and Hwy 120 Yosemite, remain closed. The road into and across Yosemite, Hwy 120 is not only closed but the Caltrans employees are saying this will be one of the later openings, which certainly does not stimulate the suffering economy. Yosemite not only provides summer jobs, but furnishes a huge portion of the tourist money that crosses into California. The motorcycle forums are having bets on when the roads will be open, in anticipation of getting up to the “fun stuff”.
Speaking of fun, even the local greats around Sacramento are still closed and untended. One of my personal faves, Wentworth Springs
is still covered in Snow as is Icehouse Road. It’s just crazy for the first part of June, but I suppose when they are finally open, we riders will be more than thankful!!
At least we have Paloma Rd. 😉
Think warm, think sunshine!!
