Trying to shed Hollywood’s “bad biker” image!!

Forever motorcyclists have been portrayed as bad asses by Hollywood in a plethora of “B” movies. For those of us that find passion in riding it’s difficult to shake the self-fulfilling prophesy of outlaw as portrayed by film. The 1960s and 70s gave birth to a subculture of aspiring bad-ass biker wannabes. “The Mini-skirt Mob” from 1968 is no exception. Here the Crestones have chosen a scene portraying not only unsafe riding but moto-bullies assaulting a pick-up truck driver and his lovely passenger in their music video. I am presenting this solely as a humorous diversion, as I certainly can’t give it credence as anything but camp, however I do believe there was an entire population that feared motorcycle riders, from exactly such silly portrayals!

We could list a number of other movies giving us a bad name, but every now and again there’s a film that shows us as adventurers seeking some inner meaning or peace. I prefer to think of us in those terms.

Positive Portrayal of Motorcyclists:
The World’s Fastest Indian
My Bodyguard
The Motorcycle Diaries Which has one of the best soundtracks ever!!
The Great Escape
On Any Sunday
Long Way Around
One Week
