Desert Fever–Part 3

Sheesh, day three became day four and five and and…

So, let me move back in time to catch up to where I am now.

I left the hot springs and headed to Truth or Consequences, NM.  My plan was to ride to Lordsburg and then go up into the mountains and take one of my favorite roads Hwy 152.  Well the wind was howling, like it often does in the desert and I decided I wanted to just get to TorC and hang out with my friends.  I instead took the Demming cutoff and flew.  There was no police presence that I saw, don’t they all say that, so I threw a bit of caution to the wind which was blowing anyway.  The wild winds actually laid down by TorC and the afternoon was calm.

I first went by the property I want to buy and gave it a good look see.  Yep, i still love this crazy place and now that I do have some offers for financing, just make an offer.

The old adobe in the back.

The back yard

I see a future desert compound here.  There is honeysuckle growing all along the chain link.  I need to enclose that side of the yard and get a soaking tub in the back yard and it would be perfect!  I gotta do this!

TorC is a quirky place, but one where I feel right at home.

Main Street

Makes you wonder what is behind the red door, eh?

My friends that I visit here have their granddaughter staying with them.  She is from Virginia Beach and tell me this isn’t a different environment!!  She is actually thriving here, homeschooling without the pressures of a big high school.  Her grades moved to the top, she is working at a little coffee bar part time, but realized her more important job is finishing school.  She is only 15 but looks 21 and has the pressure to go with that role.  TorC, as much as she didn’t think so, is a good place for her to find herself.

Meet Olivia and her friend Jake who came for a visit while i was there.

This is my friend’s neighbors yard…it is an amazing “compound” and one that I would love to aspire to.

Yep…i could live here.

I see a place for the hot tub.

My friend, David who would be helping me with  my place did this lovely bathroom.

This pizza oven is also his labor of love.

You never know what you’ll see in TorC…

David built a deer fence to keep the deer out of his garden.  He got up one morning to this…a neighbor’s practical joke!

My friends, David and Annie’s garden.

David doing a little evening entertainment.

The most amazing sunset…
